I'm actually grateful for Sarah Palin and her ilk. Their continued existence — and their ability to garner attention — shines a light on what the Republican Party and the conservative movement truly are. And that means more and more success for reality-based leaders over the long haul. Please tell me I'm right.

How not building every single boondoggle-esque military contraption that comes down the pipeline and putting a little thought into building a better, more fair society equates to "abandoning our constitutional responsibility" is rather hard for my private-school, overly educated mind to absorb. Please, do continue to

Yeah, it's amazing what will upset delicate sports fans of unworthy teams. :)

This was a rather dated and unfortunate look for Wayans:

Your self-awareness is a model for us all.

Actually, Puig never would have made third base because Gibby would have first whizzed a fastball by his ear, then struck his soiled-undies ass out. But I take your point.

Obsess much, Deadspin? Yes, I'm a Cardinals fan, but I always assumed there were people out there who disliked them (Cubs fans in particular, the poor little championship-deprived sweeties). I would never have imagined there was so much vitriol, however, were it not for the valuable service provided by Deadspin's

I'm no doctor, nor do I play one on TV. You may have a point about the shoe, but three factors outweigh that (at least in my case)... 1. The main factor in distance is leg speed. A bare foot is lighter, hence more speed. 2. The bare foot is a more uniform and consistent surface with which to hit the ball. 3.

Fair point but it wouldn't matter. I tried using flat soccer shoes (the kind for indoor soccer) and my foot was still too big. It wasn't just the studs on the bottom of the shoe, but also the increased size of my foot from the leather around it.

Yeah, I'd say that trumps barefoot harmonica. Hit me up on Facebook or the interwebs sometime.

Ha! I see what you did there. Nah, the harmonica mostly came later, although I played in bands back then (vocals and bass). But sometimes I play the harmonica naked nowadays, which I guess counts as barefoot...

Really great article, but I do want to comment on one statement:

Yeah, I'm sure you're right. I was just making a funny, because Deadspin. But it's mostly narrow-minded intolerance more than anything else.

.....aaaaaaand THERE'S the Cardinals-trolling post that was sorely missing yesterday, the day after the Cards beat the Dodgers. I sense a connection. That might be the best thing about a possible Cardinals WS victory (if they make it to the Series, of course, in a nod to your so-clever implied argument that many

On the bright side, these people are losing. The far-right view of the world is LOSING. Death by death and year by year, sanity creeps into this country whether these intolerant jerks like it or not.

Methinks that, deep down, having it shoved down his throat is EXACTLY what that doth-protest-too-much type really wants.

The absence on this Wednesday afternoon of any new Cardinals-bashing post since last night has not gone unnoticed. #deadspinbutthurt
