At first glance these all look the same. Which means for the average person who walks into a store, they're just going to pick one based on a sale or brand loyalty. People shouldn't have to check the specs (CPU, RAM)on a phone to compare them. One of these companies needs to create a handset that really jumps out.

Funniest guy on the planet, I swear.

@Aaron Anglin: Oh....DUH (headslap), yeah I noticed that too.

For your desktops and devices like xboxes, run the cat 5. You can buy a small amount, 250ft or so, pretty cheap. But if you have phones, ipads, or notebooks that need wifi, check out DD-WRT and a cheap Asus router. Make it a repeater and experiment with placement.

@iamzombus: What do you mean? I was saying replace the the three prong removable power cable from my PC's power supply, with a 3 conductor version of a design like this.

@Aquifel: Mass adoption would of course be the big issue. look how hard it's been to get cell phone manufacturers to agree on a charging cable!

@spyderr0de0: You can always get the latch with a knife or something, but there are ones like these with a little lever. I just buy regular ones so I can cut the excess, then I snip and throw them away if I need to remove them. They're cheap. Home depot sells giant bags really cheap. [www.cabletiesplus.com]

@—Core—: I think that's either a foreign outlet or some hypothetical country-ambiguous design just for example.

I really like the idea, but I think in reality it wouldn't help that much. The reason being that power cables for appliances are always different lengths, or running different distances. For example, both my TV and my Blu-Ray player are plugged into the same surge protector and have 6 foot power cables. So snapping

Good job dude! That's really sweet. And 35 MPH!

@cc: HAHA, yes, I totally had that one too.

@blueeddie: I just meant that it looks every other manufacturer is doing it so Apple will appear behind. I haven't missed it on my iPad, but with the big facetime push I'd be stunned if they didn't wt lust add that capability

Well I think we can confidently say that the iPad 2 will (and must) have both front and back cameras.

I want to try to build my own super soaker using his prototype design. Could be a fun project. Looks like it's all readily available materials, no?

I think the future really IS digital downloads. But right now, Blu-Ray is where it's at, so they shouldn't ignore it entirely.

@tw@t: It looks like it could have been a prop for District 9

@tw@t: Yeah do you think a coil more like 5 times the length of the projectile would build up more speed?
