Wild: this morning a red one took a left onto my road in front of me. Young guys in it-maybe HS. I hadn't seen one in the wild in quite some time-aside from our yearly cruise-in.
But what about the subjective fun factor? My 82 Rabbit was a blast to toss around-even with 13” wheels, 72 sluggish ponies, and the horrible ‘Economy’ 4-speed! My buddy’s MK6 is much more comfortable, faster, handles way better, and is much safer...but I know which made me giggle more!
I had a Sapporo for a year in 97. LOTTA fun! Pretty advanced suspension design for its era. Was great in snow and for playing Dukes of Hazard jumping stuff. Finally destroyed the strut mounts and sold it for what I had paid to a guy who wanted motor for an Aerostar(I think?)
Need For Speed V-Rally. I actually learned how to do Scandinavian flicks because of it. Would do them on the game, then take an automatic Paseo out to a smooth, wide gravel road and practice until I got it down. LOTTA fun!
I lust after Morgans, but, from that angle it looks like an alien sex toy with wheels...
Stop! Just stop right there! WD-40 is a great bumper-sticker remover, and starting fluid for diesels. If you try and use it to get rusted nuts off, you’re gonna aquire some specialty tools-and a tap&die set!
You entitled bastard, you! We had AM in the ‘74 Super Beatle...
FWIW, drums are actually lighter than discs-at least on the rear of Mk1 Rabbits...
I’m sure I’m a(scorned) minority here, but I kinda like the rear: reminds me of the Crosstour’s which I strangely like. I like a car with haunches. May need thearapy...
I was all NP just for the awesome 70s wierdness until “...inboard Volvo Penta AQ130A”
BUT! You have to pull the intake to change glowplugs...
...real tires on their cars, snow would not be a problem. I DD an 80s Mercedes and passed many a AWD vehicle this winter. Good All-season tires and some weight & attention to what the vehicle actually does ftw!
How bout we just >stop< salting?!
make a checkerboard of old album covers on one wall. Pretty cheap & easy, and you can make all sorts of statements depending on the albums you use. Avoid Insane Clown Posse if you hope to have sex with someone you bring home...
Putting a resistor in place of the downstream sensor will be ok. Do NOT leave one in place after inspection on an upstream sensor! Buddy did that...I charged him a stupidity premium for R&R on the head after his fix caused lean burn condition and burnt a valve.
C’mon, y’all: what is today’s date?
EA81 FTW! Love those OHVs: not fast, not sexy, but I could >not< kill them. I used to flip those back in the 90s. Went thru a lot of clutch cables and axles, but very easy to wrench on.
YES! I use spike tape from a theater on all my projects. It's bright(lots of diff colors) and water-soluble. I Mark both ends & # them, then pull tape after I make each connection. When 'done', I check for remaining tape: there's always that one vacuum hose tucked up under something...
Forget the triangular wheelbase aspect: how in hell are they going to handle toe, camber, & castor changes in a front track the width of human shoulders(est from rendering in article)?
