BREGMAN: You’re a millionaire funded by billionaires. That’s what you are.

People lie about crazy shit all the time. All kinds of people. It doesn’t necessarily mean they have mental problems.

“The moment that Jon Stewart took Tucker Carlson’s soul & dignity ...”

Exactly! He will claim that he thought the ends would justify the means; that he would be able to spur change as a result, etc. Bullshit. If his motivations were altruistic he would’ve found other admirable, creative ways to use his fame to seek justice for PoC and the LGBTQ community. For example, by using his

I have generated a weird theory today - the folks that watch Tucker, and see him get just annihilated then say to themselves - “See, that’s what’s wrong with Democrats and liberals and communist socialists - they make a good man, with good ideas about America (MURICA!) look foolish!”.

Your social media is very much not your private life. At least it isn’t if you make your posts visible to anyone.

For a normal hire, it’s probably not desirable to do that sort of digging. For someone who is going to be your social media presence, I think knowing what their public social media looks like is pretty highly relevant.

Oh to live in a situation where being called a millionaire paid by billionaires is too much of a personal slight....

I’m sure she didn’t just become racist overnight. Did they not check her social before engaging her services?

“ ...Have you heard of the internet?” laid me out.

I always thought it was interesting how O’Reilly was supposed to be the Right’s answer to Stewart. They aren’t remotely comparable. Stewart is an Olympic gold medalist to O’Reilly’s jr. high athlete. When they debated, O’Reilly was completely and utterly crushed.

The moment that Jon Stewart took Tucker Carlson’s soul & dignity and wiped his ass with it should’ve reduced Tucker to hosting a podcast from the corner booth of a Denny’s in Billings, Montana. I mean unless you’re a tone deaf Fox News blowhard there is no way you could look at that clip and the others and think

One reason I was pleased with the success of Wonder Woman and Fury Road (aside from them being genuinely good movies) was because it drove the unwashed little edgelords mad with anger.

Im being paid off by Marvel to say they make consistently entertaining movies. I’m being paid in the form of movies, and all I have to do to receive my payments is give $12-$16 to some kid in a glass box.

Now that I think about it, it’s a pretty convoluted system.

Honestly why are some people so damn insecure in themselves that they have to try and belittle whatever new thing they think is triggering them?

Audience reviews without any kind of proof of purchase are bullshit. And even with proof of purchase, it’s an inherently skewed metric...oh, you liked a movie that you went out of your way and spent money to see? Shocking.

I think I read somewhere that she didn’t intend to play the lead, and had to be convinced by Lee. Which, if that’s the case, was a great move by Lee because she brings so much charm and warmth to the role.

God bless Emma Thompson.
I just watched her in Ang Lee’s Sense and Sensibility and she is a constant delight. Especially since she also wrote the film’s script.

I’m thinking the same thing. I’ve heard similiar stories about other sucessful, or at least once successful, companies: early success goes to the executives heads, and they figure whatever they’re doing must be a magic success formula and a culture of abuse and ostracization takes hold.
