Says more that their co-stars are staying silent on this though it seems they’ve quit the show anyway.

Glad you enjoyed it - it’s one of my K&P faves, too!

That’s right! Woman have been cold-blooded mad-dog psychopathic killers and sellers of slaves, too!

10/10 would watch.

Ching Shih (1775-1844) was a spectacular bad-ass female pirate. Commanded 20,00 to 40,00 pirates and was one of the only pirates ever to just be allowed to retire. men under her command were put to death if they raped, and men had to be faithful to their wives. I would love a film to be made of her.

Yaaaas!

Also, Anne Bonny had the most badass “parting words” to a lover I’ve ever heard: “Had you fought like a man, you need not have been hang’d like a dog.”

WHAT’S NEXT, CASTRATING ALL THE BOYS ON “IT’S A SMALL WORLD”!?!?!

WHEN WILL YOU GYNOCRAT HARPY ICE QUEEN FEMTALITARIANISTS BE SATISFIED???

The Johnny Depp robot at the end of the ride is looking a lot better than the real Depp these days. Maybe they can just pop him into the next movie instead of Depp. Not like anyone would notice.

Piracy in general and historical female pirates in particular have always been near and dear to my heart. I watched the first Pirates of the Caribbean movie because I was part of a group and was outvoted. The saddest thing for me about these movies is that while, for once, the cast is relatively racially diverse,

Disney’s bone throwing is really a thing for me right now, because I finally saw Beauty & the Beast and the ICONIC GAY MOMENT. ha ha

Now playing

We’ll really know feminists won when they change the ride to this:

Agreed. We’re done. Feminism is over and we won.

Oh, my god, girl, RIGHT? We have arrived.

Meh. This is fine.

The Pirates of the Caribbean ride was the highlight of my trip to Disneyland because I was able to catch a nap while we floated through that stupid fucking thing.

Pirates has always been my favorite ride at DL, but that auction scene has always seemed like one of those raunchy Easter eggs that the animators try to slip into the Pixar movies.

I was a fan of the ride as a kid, and I’m ok with this. The part of the haunted mansion ride where the narrator says and this is the ghost that will follow you home, kind of freaked me out as a kid though.
