I’d agree with you if he was simply acting in the film. But he’s the director and producer; AND it’s pretty well-known that this guy is a creep. I’m not blaming Cooper; but it is a little odd that he had ZERO idea of the guy’s background.

I think it’s exactly this. It seems that if they see that mailroom employees have a good work ethic and interest in the law, they’ll encourage them to go to law school (and as you said, pay for it.)
