Anyone come up with a WET cat food feeder? We’ve taken our cats off dry food, and they are now far healthier for it... but wet-food feeding is not easily automated, so we can’t even do overnight trips, much less anything longer (without having a person show up 2x a day).

I’ve lived in the northeast (mostly New England - MA, NY, and now CT) for decades and never seen the rain-hazards you describe. Heck, I often see people NOT using their headlights (as required by law in these states)... so I can’t imagine they have the presence of mind to use hazards.

These are the same people who believe the insurance commercials that give “accident forgiveness” or “newer car replacement”... the money simply comes from everyone’s slightly-higher premium.

As I recall, the gasoline provided in CA was a different mix than what was in MA. My brother went to CA (from NY) and saw similar loss in mpg... but we attributed it to the mix they provide there.
