In the GM case, GM is settling and protecting the CEO from harm (financial, in this case)... unless you can show me that the CEO chipped-in to pay the settlement? This is what happens in most cases…

I know about the locomotive d-h systems... just haven’t seen it in a car. Glad to hear SOMEONE is doing it, but the question still stands - why aren’t more people doing it? Exactly... consistent throttle and load are far easier to control for, and give you better efficiency and emissions. It’s one reason CVT is a good idea, as well. Bottom line is that motors are most efficient in narrow ranges... so just keeping them there is a good idea.

I thought the “late eating” warning was debunked... ie, it doesn’t matter if you eat late (from a dieting perspective). I test-drove an Evo back in 2005... it was bone-jarringly awful on regular roads. I’m no fan of Civics, but even I would choose the Honda over the Evo for this reason alone. (I ended up buying a Legacy GT instead, since a Civic is just... awful... in it’s own boring way.)
