Exactly. Fit and finish are the LAST things HDs are known for. They’re more well known for dropping parts and oil. My best friend bought one and while putting it on the trailer, it dropped a bolt.
Agreed on the magnetic mounts. I got two during a previous similar deal (ours is the Mpow brand). They work great, and we use them in both our cars. It has obsoleted my lifehacker-designed binder clip holder.

Idiotic indeed. Like I said before, the inspection process is a joke, and our discussion proves why. Thanks for the constructive discussion... you don’t always get that in the wild-west of the internet. Kudos to you!
As I said, the shop I used to go to would remove it as normal practice - they never asked me. I’ll admit it’s been a while since I went there, so maybe laws have changed since then.
I thought inspectors could remove the wheel - one of the stations in my area does this. So, I looked it up, and sure enough, from the MA RMV website: http://www.massrmv.com/rmv/faq/inspec…
Got an 8.9” HDX a while ago. Excellent hardware... awful FireOS software. I bought the device so my wife could use it specifically with NextIssue (a magazine app). This app was available on the Amazon app store when I bought it, but then Amazon decided to stop allowing it... so now I can’t get the app on the device…

Yes, you are correct, that’s how it works, in general. The point is that with “forgiveness” the cost isn’t really “forgiven” for anyone. In other words, the person who made the damage gets “forgiven” but the rest of us are paying for it via higher base-premiums. So, the cost isn’t forgiven... it’s just that everyone…
Accident forgiveness is just a way to spread the cost of the bad drivers to all the insured drivers... particularly the good ones. Remember, it’s all about money... they’re not your friend, and they’re not there to help you - they want to balance the books, and will end up charging everyone else for the “bumper tap”…
Sadly, the dress nicely thing is important. It shouldn’t be (justice is blind!) and frankly we shouldn’t have to take this idiotic system “seriously” since it’s just a corrupt joke.
Ahh anecdotal evidence...
At a minimum, helmet, gloves, motorcycle jacket, and long pants (usually jeans, though I have caught myself riding with slacks by mistake on the way to work). I’ve gotten into the habit of using my Motoport kevlar mesh overpants as much as possible, but there are a few times I haven’t worn them, but I wear them most…
Follow the money. Speeding tickets are over-priced which is why the police love to enforce them... they get to sit back and just wait until the radar device says “go do something”. On the other hand, left lane violations require the police to actually pay attention while driving, and then pull over the left lane…
“if you do not have one, you should take the rental company’s additional personal injury coverage”
My license needs gray/silver... every other color I want (like the one from this article) are just cop magnets.
I have an 06 Legacy GT with 142k on the stick motor and turbo, and I’ve been running stage 2 (50% higher than factory boost) since about 30k, with no issues with head gaskets. I’m not gentle on the car, and its been very reliable as a daily driver. I would think I would have been ripe for head gasket failure, but…
With basically ZERO enforcement of any other driving law other than speeding, what do you expect? Hell, I’ve seen police cars speed, fail to stop at traffic lights, change lanes without turn signals, etc. Basically, the attitude is that speeding is the only problem... and everything else is an “accident”.
You are correct - fact of the matter is, the speed limit in most states is ILLEGALLY set low, often against state AND federal law. According to these rules, the speed limit is supposed to be set to the 85th percentile of traffic speed... not some arbitrary other number.
