I was talking about roads in general, particularly those with traffic lights since that's where lane splitting is most common. There are no traffic lights on your pedestrian-free highways.

You're right. We should get rid of pedestrians too... because they were grandfathered in as well and are the ones who die because of bad drivers.
So, I'm not clear on what you're recommending - are you saying I should stick with steel, or go with Aluminum? Again, how reliable is the Aluminum one? I don't have 3-ton vehicles (two cars each ~3500 lbs)... so I would prefer the lighter one if it's good/reliable

I fully agree with this recommendation! My last car was a 92 MX6 V6 manual. It was a wonderful vehicle. I sold it with 160k only because I wanted something bigger/faster/newer (Subaru Legacy GT). The car was crazy reliable (except for freezing door locks every winter). I only did some basic mods - new Eibach springs…
I'm less concerned with the total number of pumps, and more concerned with the reliability. How long have you had yours? Do you use it a lot? Etc. The other reply pointed me to the steel jack... you're replying about the aluminum... that aluminum sounds like the better option for me...

Exactly... why would I want a heavier, lower MPG (just because it's tall, less aerodynamic, has bigger heavier wheels to "look cool", etc), more expensive (because sheeple), poor handling vehicle when I can improve all of those things with a wagon? Hell, give me a hatchback if you don't want to call it a "wagon"...…
The dumbing-down of technology (and responsibility) continues unfettered. I totally agree, drivers should be paying attention, not depending on some tech to keep them out of trouble. This is why I fully believe the new tech being forced onto drivers (lane departure warnings, blindspot monitors, rearview cams) will…
A system that slaps the driver (or yells at them) when they're doing something stupid. For example, Subaru's camera-based Eyesight could be used to slap the driver to get out of the passing lane when there is no reason for them to be there any longer. Or when they change lanes without turn signals. Or if they leave…
No crazy "high end" car or display needed. My Subaru Legacy does this using the odometer display: http://www.subaruoutback.org/forums/99-do-y…
Curious - which HF-version do you guys have... I'm looking for a good HF replacement to my ancient and simple Craftsman. I'm looking for one that raises more quickly (than a "standard" jack) and is still similarly low. If it's lighter than the Crafstman, I'll be even happier. But, I want one that's reliable... some of…

How about manufacturers stop "integrating" things that don't need to be integrated. In addition, just like they should follow the bluetooth STANDARD the could follow the STANDARDS for dashboards allowing users to install what they want (ie, what works better than the factory crap).
I wonder if it's just a case of an over-worn wiper, rather than "freezing" to the windshield. I replace mine rather often (when they start streaking bad)... yet I notice many people keep using the old blade as-is. I can imagine an older blade (worn from usage) tearing apart with the ice... but I can't believe this is…
Never done this, never had the problems described. If I need to clear the windows, I simply lift the wipers before clearing... I don't need to leave them up for any reason. Never had them "freeze to the windshield" and never had icing problems.
Never done this... never had a single wiper blade "freeze to the window". None of my previous cars had heated windshields (my current Subaru does, but I rarely use it)... and I don't warm up the car before driving off, so it's not like the defroster heated the windshield either. I see many people do this around me…
The pump handle trick is not correct... see http://www.snopes.com/autos/techno/i…
Note that not all bacteria is bad... and anti-bacterials kill the "good" stuff too. You need bacteria to maintain a proper balance in and on your body... hence all anti-bacterials are bad, as they aren't specific enough to target just the bad ones. That, in addition to the fact that bacteria will evolve to become…
Maybe those of us who are lactose tolerant are simply superior to those who are not? :)
Like I said, the intent of my post (don't want to put words in other people's mouths) was that 10 years 250k wasn't that big of a deal... all cars should be able to do this. I will grant you that your vehicles aren't stock (something you could have mentioned) hence your case is stronger that they are reliable.
2 Audis and 247k miles? That's 5 years and 123.5k per car. Lots of miles per year, but nothing to write home about. My current Subaru Legacy GT with Stage2 (ie, 50% more boost) modifications since it was 30k now has 9 years and 135k on it. Had to replace some bearings in the rear of the transmission (common issue with…
Exactly. Last time I whitelisted many sites, including Gawker media. The site loads slower, and stutters because of this... but I was willing to accept that... until I got my first autoplay audio ad. That took them off the whitelist again. Maybe it was a mistake, but I've had no reason to re-whitelist them along the…
