I’m so damn excited for this. I bought IX for my Playstation in high school and made it to the final boss. Having beaten II and III on my SNES, then VII and VII on PSX, I’m ashamed that I never finished this.

Maybe the writer(s)‘s main influence was the SNES masterpiece ‘Turtles in Time,’ which is where the second act is wholly derived. It’d be better than the first movie...

I think the only way it will be possible is pushing more of the story into the third installment. Disc 3 only has a few actual story ‘missions’ but has the entire map open (sans the areas destroyed/cut off). I think if they push some of disc 2 to the third and have a hefty upfront (and hopefully with a preload option)…

I’m currently replaying it and you’re right - the return to Midgar can occur mid-disc 2, but isn’t required until the very end of the disc just before you return to the northern crater.
