I think he’s crashing and burning so spectacularly it will be quite some time before he stars in anything again if he ever comes back. Of course I am probably wrong, but he wouldn’t be the first star to blow up his career after their first taste of success
Yes, we are each giving him pennies, maybe a dollar, when we go see this movie. Compared to time invested in these franchises I am willing to make that trade, considering he has already made more than most of us will already make combined, and that didn’t come from ticket sales
I think in this day an age the bankability of a star is one of many considerations for a studio, but an even bigger consideration would be the likelihood of said actor to get cancelled, and if Miller hasn’t already been cancelled then they certainly will be soon. Other than Robert Downey Jr very few of superheroes…
We aren’t giving him money though. The studio made a contract with him for more money than any of us could ever give him. He will get a percentage of box office, but when this movie inevitably is terrible and massively underperforms, even that amount will be pretty insignificant to all he’s made over the last several…
The inquisitor actress is indeed bad, but that’s what’s struck me about all the D+ shows so far. All around terrible acting, especially Mando Season 2
That doesn’t make it a good story engine for high budget, prestige television. It might be realistic but it is also lazy. To me it just reinforces that this story didn’t need to be told, or if it absolutely did it couldve been a comic or something.
Based on how good Sicario was I would agree, but I love that there is an absolute top tier film maker committed to making prestige sci-fi with high concept twists. I’m sure he will excel in any genre he works in.
I see that now but still think that is very confusingly written...
I rewatched Blade Runner: 2049 recently for the first time it came out and man.... that movie is incredible. I wish Netflix or Amazon would give him 5 seasons and a 100 million dollar check to go adapt 3 body problem next
I would say they would both qualify and RoS makes the most since to be included on this list because it failed the hardest. To me the trend of ‘legacyquels’ need to side-step the next generation/’should be main characters’ for artifacts and callbacks from earlier films. None of the characters in RoS got to be…
Is there another shoe that is going to drop on this and they’re just waiting for the perfect moment? I have no doubt that a powerful man could harass the people below him and make their workplace hell, but why would his former writing partner call him ‘the worst human he’s ever worked with’ and then only go on to say…
Also most star wars stuff is poorly written with barely sketched out characters. There is a long list of actors in star wars that dont have “the depth or gravitas to play the part” until you see them in something else and realize the writing let them down
I would never give Tom Cruise credit for making anyone’s career, especially Emily Blunt, but he does seem to spotlight young talent as well as having seemingly age appropriate love interests
It definitely feels like a different show at this point. Still a very good show with lots to love about it, but ultimately a different show with very different ambitions
An original star wars show with what looks like great actors, amazing cinematography, and hopefully good writing?? I really hope they pull this off
The last 30 minutes are pretty pretty pretty pretty good!
Maybe John Oliver? I’m personally a big fan of Sarah Silverman, and think she has potential to step into these kind of shoes, especially if “I <3 You, America” had kept going
Is the reality for the most succesful indie movies to just double their budget? Or is there a chance this will continue to climb with wider and wider release?
My evidence is entirely anecdotal but I’ve worked at elementary schools for a long time and never met a kid that liked steven universe, and most had never watched it. ( I taught art so these topics would come up fairly often). Most people who like SU are millennials and I dont think they really accounted for much of…
