The best deal on a beater pickup can be had from the 1998-2002 Nissan Frontiers. KA24 motor with a forged bottom end and a pretty stout five speed. I bought this one for $500 with 195k on it. Replaced the clutch, waterpump, crank pulley, threw some new wheel cylinders with fresh drums in the back with some new pads…
The local Porsche club in the Pacific Northwest is not like this at all. They have some of the friendliest people that truly enjoy their cars. They will take the time to chat with a lowly Subaru driving pleb like myself.
