Um, duh didn't they ever watch the Babysitters Club movie? The only way Claudia passed her summer chem test was because the girls made a rap song for her at camp.

Welcome! :)

This may be a silly comparison since it's not tied to such a monumental civil right decision, but my mom had a similar reaction when she saw the Jim Carrey Grinch movie. She was pissed that they "made the Grinch sexual." She thought it was kind of trashy to indroduce a love interest and show the Grinch getting all hot

OMG SHOES.

See, the problem is, whenever someone does try to change it, the capitalist nutjobs pour out of the woodwork and start screaming "SOCIALIZM!!!" and convince everyone that it will kill ALL THE BIZNESS and so it just dies. Not sure if you saw on any news outlets, but it was a pretty big fukin deal when Obamacare passed,

Now playing

It's about freaking time. As a service industry veteran, I've witnessed firsthand how often folks have to choose between paying rent and their health. Or scrambling to find someone to watch a sick child or get fired. Or dragging oneself into work with the flu because sick days aren't a thing.

I'm with ya sister.

Thank you so much for being honest. Almost no one is. Best of luck to you, it sounds like you're doing a kick-ass job of what's best for your child! Soon they'll be more independent and hopefully you can regain some of your freedom :)

I'm with you here. I don't think this is anything to get up in arms about at all, and I'm no fan of Kate's. I dated an Arab guy for a long time and we would gently tease each other but it came from a place of familiarity and understanding and it was in private and I'm sure most people in intimate relationships of this

Totally agree with the main point of what you're saying (and I'm not defending Deen-she has no business using that word and she totally sucks) but just FYI, as someone who's been in the restaurant industry for years including in Georgia, the N word—and just about every other homophobic, racist, sexist inslut/slur you

I was thinking that, too. In NO WAY AT ALL does this make Deen's behavior acceptable, but I've long said that most people would balk at the lack of political correctness in a restaurant. Not only is there a lack, it's a purposeful attempt at being as offensive as possible. Just last night, the Ethiopian expo and

Okay, I was JUST reading the NPR article about this (http://www.npr.org/blogs/thetwo-w…) and from what I got out of that article, it wasn't about the SCOTUS not believing in the principle of the law, just that they felt that the formula was too outdated to be able to enforce it, and asked Congress to draft a new set

Although it's a shame your comment kind of went over some folks' heads, for what it's worth I think the thread actually contained a pretty informative discussion that I found to be helpful. Sometimes as a liberal white person you want to have good intentions but don't realize that you're adding to the very thing

Unless the girl happens to be a super-nerd, in which case this might actually work a bit too well.

YES! It's so funny/pathetic how guys seem to think that this is the ultimate insult. I've seen guys call 110-pound chicks fat in some weird attempt at crushing her self-esteem. Which, if you wanna super-analyze that, speaks volumes about how these men see themselves as having that much power over a woman's psyche. So

I'm kind of having a shitty day and your comment made me laugh-out-loud fo' real. So thank you for that.

Yes, I have had the joy of experiencing uncircumsized dude who didn't yet know how to properly clean himself (which I realize isn't the fault of the foreskin, just that he wasn't washing correctly) but since it was my first serious BF and we were teenagers I just let it go for the most part. I do remember asking him

What, precisely, were you hoping to accomplish by making such a statement?

Thanks! It's not a dire situation luckily, I have a great day job/career that pays pretty well, but I just moved to a new city by myself and it's expensive (everyone has more than one job here.) So, enough to pay bills but not much leftover and I'm trying to make a dent in these stupid fucking student loans.

My dear, I think you're missing the point as to why we're so defensive.
