Movies like this are hard because the book is so full of innuendo, and the narrator’s perceptions and imagination. The moviemakers have to make a lot of decisions that just aren’t in the source material.

I think she’s too pretty, too. We never really know what the narrator looks like objectively, but she clearly thinks she’s very plain looking and doesn’t draw attention to herself. Unless the movie version is going to suggest that the narrator version is actually attractive, but is just insecure, it doesn’t fit.
