You read that incorrectly. The article says it was the cop’s gun that jammed and then he got it working again and shot at Jones. It doesn’t refer to Jones firing at all.
She’s partnered/married (not sure and not bothering to check) with Diana Ross’s son/Tracee Ellis Ross’s brother. My guess is that the show got made on the hopes of having cameos from the fabulous Ross women (and maybe Jessica Simpson, as she made hit TV before)
