@dkissam: A lot can change in 3000 miles, particularly if you don't drive the car very often. This is especially true if your car has a high number of miles on it.
We also waste gas doing things like this.
I can see why there would be a problem. It's hard to build a proper pump with high enough tolerances for the required rich smug mixture.
