Huh, David Lynch The Art Life is getting a Criterion release in September. I mean, it's an interesting documentary because it focuses on a part of Lynch's work that doesn't get as much attention as his cinema, but strictly as a film, it's not especially great.

Maybe the counter-narrative would work better if it didn't embrace a man who has had journalists killed, who killed his political opponents or threw them in jail on flimsy charges, who systematically supported far-right parties like the National Front in Europe, who sponsored a demented leader in Chechnya who occupies…

Yeah, this seems a lot more like a passion project that went horribly wrong than shameless, self-indulgent schmaltz like Little Boy or The Cobbler.
