Bingo. It’s not necessarily a bad thing that people buy these purpose-built off-roaders as boutique items, but they should understand they are signing up for something that rides like shit, doesn’t like going 70+, and is prone to change its mind about being upright. I remember when most SUV’s had the stickers on the

yeah, this.

I agree. I bought a decent amount of Toyota stock near the bottom of the crash. I also bought Ford... more on a “let’s be a river boat gambler” investment. I am much more confident in Toyota’s stability than Ford’s.

Those of us following EVs have always says this is the natural progression. But you will still have EV-naysayers insisting to use the worst case scenarios to try to argue EVs are pointless.

Jason, this is why Elon is freaking out

Or go all in on China.  You can’t build a factory anywhere in the world quicker than one can be thrown together there.

I work in insurance, and Wranglers are the worst vehicle for crashes. They are an amazing combination of too rigid and too weak, with all their vital bits right in the path of impact. It is nearly impossible to *not* fuck up a wrangler in any impact.

There are a million of these things in my area, and I’d venture no more than a handful have ever been offroad.  They’re definitely seen as a fun alternative to a normal SUV.

10 yards long and 4 lanes wide, it’s 65 tons of American pride!

Ah, the Wrangler. The perfect vehicle for folks that think that COVID is a hoax and global warming is a lie.

Unexplained fires are a matter for the courts...

Those issues can be corrected with angry eyes for the headlamps.

Pretty sure those are designed so that the driver's body absorbs any impact which might damage the ego of the vehicle.

The wrangler is a stupid vehicle* in that its track width is much wider than its body width. which means the frame rails are inboard of where they would otherwise be. Which means that when you hit it at the front by the same percentage of overlap as would be suggested by the track width calculation you bypass the

Now playing

How was the moose test? I remember the Cherokee failed the moose test spectacularly.

Yep. Wrangler is a stupid vehicle for daily driving. Always has been. Get a minivan, it’s what you actually need anyway, tough guy.

I had never driven a jeep and always liked the look/idea of them. I worked at Enterprise part time during school and we had one Wrangler that I eventually had a chance to drive. Could not believe how shitty an experience that was and it immediately killed any desire to own one.

This makes me think of something... I would love to see how the typical lifted bro-truck would perform in this test.

That's the price some people are willing to pay for having a shitty vehicle with no redeeming qualities.

That’s nothing compared to how easily they flip after adding a lift kit and big honking mudders. Which as we all know, are obvious prerequisites for proper mall crawling.
