My dad taught me to put the clams into a lot of cold water to which you’ve added white or yellow corn meal. The clams take in the meal and flush it out of their system along with the sand. It takes an hour or so and it truly works. I’ve done it for years.....

I won’t go so far as to say the guy “got what was coming to him” but the tailgater IS at fault here. The reason you shouldn’t tailgate is you cannot predict the person driving in front of you. Perhaps the person saw a squirrel and panicked. (Not that I believe that is what happened, but it’s something that you have to

Did you guys even watch the video? There was someone merging into the road at that exact moment. There was no opportunity for him to merge right without changing his rate of speed (cruise control).

I flash my brakes at them first 3 times, if they continue to tailgate I slow down until they go around. This is of course on 2 lane roads. On 4 lane roads I am in the right lane 99% of the time (unless passing). Looks like the guy got what was coming to him IMO.

And on those that do move, turning them forcibly will damage the motor and/or fry components.

Yeah, it took me a bunch of times too and I almost gave up. You really have to hit it right when the floater reaches its stopping point. Hit it right when you anticipate it to stop. You’ll miss it if you wait to see the floater stop.

Good points. I see this a lot and have been guilty of it myself.

The STEM degree “shortage” isn’t true:

I don’t really get why being considerate of others is something to be snarky about. It’s of no real consequence to me, while it might cause someone else to have a migraine, allergic reaction etc. Why would I purposely do something that I know might cause discomfort to others if it has no effect on me?

My only issue with this post is that it implies that if you “prove yourself” you will automatically be rewarded. Many, if not most, companies will consistently hassle you to work more hours while paying you as little as possible. For instance, I’ve never had less than an exemplary employee review, but in my first job

I’m going to go out on a limb and wager that this doesn’t work so well if you’re not white. Racial politics are always at play when dealing with issues of workplace trust, performance evaluation, credit, etc. I’m glad this works for people like you, but if we’re being honest, I’m going to have to get a certification

Even easier is a cat box made from an empty box and a t-shirt. A friend of mine on Facebook posted just this past week:

Every year I do my own personal “Super Bowl Challenge”. I like to see how long after the game I can go without finding out who won. My record was almost 9 days.

Considering I live in Colorado I suspect I won’t make it past breakfast Monday.

They completely got rid of Dropbox and iCloud syncing and you’re forced to use the Day One syncing. No mention of iPad Pro support either (original Day One didn’t support it and I had hoped for an update, guess not anymore).

Instapaper also recognizes URLs on the clipboard and asks if you want to save them. But... apparently not for you! I don’t know if it has to be enabled somewhere.

In the toothpaste row, next to the floss, there are bunches of tiny brush-like gadgets that do the same thing as flossing but without the string (that the cat will eat, thus causing you to pull it gently out of his butt later, or maybe that’s just my house). They are amaaaaaazing for people like myself who have teeth

The world would be quite different if 20 minutes watching Youtube could actually change your life.

For most everyone I’ve known, it’s more like “I can’t pay off my $70k in loans from the state school where I studied marketing or engineering because I can’t find a job, at all, anywhere, period.” Just sayin’.

I think this is excellent advice. I think most of us don’t realize how bad some of our habits are or what kind of impact they have until we start measuring them.

I often have a problem with this. Because it seems everybody's doing it. When they say... as a writer, as an artist etc, I want to go off in some other direction.

Labels to me are brittle things. Or clothes that soon won't fit. I can say 'I'm a writer, I'm a muso'. But these things feel like bullshit the moment I say
