What’s disingenuous is thinking that the CDC is politically motivated instead of providing the best available scientific information. Do you also think that the National Weather Service is “mandating” that your company picnic be cancelled by predicting rain?
If you’re willing to live a little dangerously, you can poach eggs too: just use a little bit of water in a ramekin and keep an eye on it. Occasionally you will have to clean up an eggsplosion, but IMHO this is nothing compared with the 100% chance of having to clean up the poaching pan.
Maybe instead of looking for “leverage” to “control” your kid, you could work on not destroying your relationship with them so that it’s possible to problem-solve with them about whatever the obstruction is. You know, actual parenting instead of being a prison warden.

5. A need for control
It’s true that the fiber silk is (carefully) washable. A silk garment, however, may not be, depending on what dyes and sizing were used to make the fabric and what the construction is like. If you don’t already know what you’re doing, you should follow the label care instructions.
