Reading the speech and the ensuing conversations, I just don't think the dichotomy here should be work versus travel. As people have mentioned above, you make do: if that's a long weekend or selling all your stuff to go backpacking around Europe.

I was wandering the same in regards to slenderman's mythology: can this specific version (with the required sacrifice and realm in the wood type) be coming from one source, like specific forums or chat rooms?

It's not meant to be body-shaming, it's just pointing out with funny captions some of the silliness in the the sub-set of the fashion

I didn't know the back story for the account, thanks for the info. It was clear, at least to me, that the target was not just skinny people so I was a bit taken aback by the argument of the article.

Am I the only one who enjoyed this account? I find some descriptions hilarious and it's more about poking fun at fashion bloggers (not saying it is okay to make them targets or anything, but that their social medias are part of their work and not private accounts), than body shaming, celebrity culture, etc,IMO.
