I’d guess they’re working within union requirements for due diligence and process, otherwise they could get nailed with a costly lawsuit. Its frustrating, but probably worth it in the end if they can make sure they did everything by the books and not risk her getting re-hired, or having to pay out a settlement.

She tried to bring a stroller into the cabin? Come on. Gate check that shit like everyone else does, you’re not special.

My heart just exploded into candy!

A kid in my high school killed his stepfather, and said it was after enduring years of violent abuse. The stepfather was the head of our local children’s services division so naturally not one single person believed the kid and I think he was convicted and wound up in prison.

I mean, he’s pretty bangable and I’d probably hit that but he would definitely not be allowed to remain in my house for more than like two consecutive hours, and even that seems like its pushing it. Get ‘er done, and GTFO.

Yes it does. It really swings after episode 3.

I’ve only been on one flight with a kid who was “old enough to know better” screaming crying. I was mad for like 30 seconds but one look at the kid and it was clear he was in some real distress. His mother was very young and clearly had no idea how to cope with what was happening. I felt terrible for them both, it

Depends on the age of the kid. Under a certain age (one poster said 6?) antihistamines have the opposite effect that they do on older and heavier bodies, i.e. instead of falling asleep the kid goes totally off the rails.

It worth remembering that corporations are made up of actual living, breathing human beings who have human emotions. Some of those human people have decision-making abilities, and do things because they are touched or they are sympathetic or they have also lost people to drunk driving and want to be kind.

Popular theory on why dad didn’t turn around to shoo the kids out of the room:

To my absolute amazement, I just discovered (after laughing over the “I want those catalogs, Joe” scene with someone) that John Patrick Shanley wrote the screenplay *and* directed it. In addition to being one of America’s best and most prolific modern playwrights (including “Doubt”), he also wrote the screenplay for

Oh I loved this! I watched it when it came out, I’m psyched to discover that its the same guy in Get Out (which was freaking amazing.)

Don’t worry, they can still pin it on the black guy. :-/ Remember, the groundskeeper had the gun in his hands at the very end. Cops would look at that and say “well, our work is done!”

First this:

I am Meryl Streep. My initial reaction was complete mind-blowing shock, then tears of joy.

My money is on the kid(s) of the guy who is fretting about protecting the kids.

Wow, that’s intense! Do you mean you’ve never read the book, or didn’t want to see anything about the series in advance? I loved the book, and so far the casting has been mostly good (the exceptions being Mad Sweeney and Easter, in my view.) I always saw Mr. Nancy as Ben Vereen, but Orlando Jones is a good substitute.

I’ve wondered this in other situations as well, although I freely submit that I am approaching this as a white lady who doesn’t have all that much skin in the game (no pun intended). How granularly do you parse casting, versus looking for talent? Is the talent pool big enough that you can have your pick of actors,

Well that whisper at the end made my scalp prickle!

Unexpected Saturday morning cryface.
