As an American, I see it as the (wrong) entitled attitude of it all. This is literally the mindset of some Americans: America is the greatest country in the world, should get preferential treatment while shitting on everyone else, and everyone should thank us for it.

If we can give them motivation and support to persist in representing our values, that makes it worthwhile.
