As a smoker, and a lazy bastard who doesn't clean her PC desk as much as she should, nah, not that unrealistic. If left like that, cigarettes usually end up flattening out on the surface, so even while it was probably done as a shortcut, doesn't really break the illusion for me as the paper does.
