You should hear mine with open headers, no resonator and only straight-through mufflers at the rear. Actually, you can't NOT hear it - it is so damn loud - and drones - I'm adding a muffler back to the front section of the cat-back.

Oil starvation was the hot topic, and constantly blamed, but new theories are that the powdered metal con rods Ford used were the weakest link. I blew my SVT engine spinning around 4000RPM through a sweeping corner on a hot day. Got 135k of hard life out of it. Punched a fist-size hole in the side of the block.
The '99 had some additional extrude-honing which got it the extra 5HP - no more torque though. IIRC the other change for '99 was the addition of green exterior color and tan interior.
As a current CSVT owner even I say CP. $10k is possibly reasonable.
Less oil starvation and more a weak con rod issue.
98.5 update was new front struts, cobra-style wheels and no clock in the dash (in the radio). Hardly significant changes.
That looks like an Infiniti M30 coupe to me.
@Straightsix9904 - The only state that has more KKK than Illinois is Indiana (I can't remember if that's per capita or total). Surprised? There's more redneck / ignoramus in the midwest than you can believe.
Simple. Ford Contour SVT. Extraordinarily well balanced, decent power, great road feel, and comfortable to boot. Yes, I've been driving mine (similar to the pictured one) for over 13 years - and I regularly take it out to the track and show up a variety of metal, including plenty of RWD (mostly in the corners; it…
Yep - one of my best friend's mom had a '90 929S with motorized swing A/C vents, solar powered fan in the sunroof, and other technological marvels for a car now over 20 years ago - that you never see.
Yes, the yutz who put a parrot bluetooth system in my dad's G35 not only took 3 times to get it working correctly (claimed he didn't have access to his diagrams on line - so why did you start the job??). First it would lock out the a/c controls and put it to full blast whenever it picked up. Second the volume was…
You missed an important element - who actually owns the companies and are the ones that take the gain from the profit? Corporations are merely a conduit for ownership - with all these global companies traded on multiple exchanges, with investors hidden behind funds listed as the owners of stock, no one has any real…
Agreed. I walked in with a spreadsheet detailing his cost, the options I wanted, and what I thought was a fair profit (about 3.5%). He took it to his manager, and after figuring out the dealer-installed accessories I wanted and how to incorporate that into the total, boom, we had a deal.
Contour SE wheels missing the center cap. Looks like 4 bolt pattern. And that teal color was available in the 1st gen Contour.
Definitely a Grand Marquis. Mid-90s generation. My grandfather had a '92; loved putting the digital computer on instant fuel economy and seeing how long I could keep it in the single digits, then compensating by seeing how long I could get "99 MPG".
Easy. The Nissan 300ZX convertible commercial with the GI Joe-type figurines in the RC car and Barbie house.
@cabjf: No, it wouldn't. Car and Driver said the same thing in one of their "Boss Wagon" series and the wiring looms are completely different. They basically had to completely gut the 5 to get any of the speed3 powertrain to work - and even then, it wasn't a slam dunk.
@snap_understeer_ftw: +1 It is a lot slower to have to keep clicking "next" and wait on each page to individually load. Maybe if I was using a mobile device it would be slow, but on a real computer - not so much.
@Tossed Pissed Mazda3hatch sideways: Wrong Jag - the X Type is the Mondeo - this S Type pictured is a Lincoln LS.
@BigHarv: No, this is an S Type - it's a Lincoln LS.
