Yup. I think it is ridiculous to outright ban all cats. But I think having a mandate that all cats be indoor-only is perfectly fine.

Yeah, it really is. All my cats growing up had been indoor only. One lived to be 19!!! None smooshed in the road or eaten by coyotes, no ticks or fleas or heartworm. It’s really, really fucking easy and I judge people who can’t get it together.

Same. It’s also much safer for the cat. As a kid, when we had indoor/outdoor cats, we had a steady parade of cats because we’d get one, have it for a few years and then it would vanish. I can’t even tell you how many cats I had in my childhood.

Absolutely. Just chip all cats. If a cat is found outside and isn’t just lost, fine the owner. Increasing fines apply on repeat occasions. Make an exception for a lost kitty if the owner has made a certain effort to retrieve it. Bob’s your uncle.

Yeah...they aren’t responsive to logic or reason. If I let my dog roam around the neighborhood all day and shit in other people’s sandboxes people would definitely get upset and call me a bad owner. Although, I have lived in the South and stray dogs don’t seem to bother people down there.

This. I have only had indoor cats. The cats don’t have thumbs, and can’t get outside unless you let them, or they escape. If they escape, they run the risk of everything that can happen, including death. They lead long, fufilling lives, including hunting, indoors. I don’t understand outdoor-cat people. I think it’s anthropomorphizing cats to say “oh but but they feel so SAD when they can’t go out!” or “but they’re going to be missing out!”
