Agreed. Bought a new car for a dd last year, got a hell of a deal but the $800 charge for blind spot warning almost had me walk away. Who the hell needs blind spot warning in a Cruze! I’m sure I’d love it in a Suburban XL, but not in a compact.

Yeah, makes sense. My specific beef is with the Cruze Eco. I wanted a high mpg dd with a manual, but still with a sunroof and heated seats. No can do, despite being the 3rd trim level out of 5 (and its available in the trim levels above and below).

Interesting. I’ll have to educate myself on how to negotiate when ordering a car. I’m a purchasing agent at work, so used to negotiating, but don’t know the ins and outs of this niche.

I would disagree with this. At least at the GM factories I’ve toured, every car has a build sheet with every part/option that needs to be put on that car before the assembly process even starts. A lot of the parts that were hand-picked seemed to have already been marked with the applicable car id# on it so they got

This. I’m picky and would REALLY like to order a car at some time in the future, but I can’t see a dealer cutting you a deal on something you order. They are all about sales NOW, and they are much more likely to deal if they want to get something off the lot. I got my last car at a steal (26% off sticker) because it

Hi John,

Hi John! Bought a 2014 Cruze Eco MT last year and love it. I have been wondering: why is the BringGo app available for the Spark and Sonic, but unavailable on the Cruze? Is that something that would will be added in the future? I’d really like to make better use of the MyLink screen than fumbling with my smartphone

It looks like 2015 Generic Luxury Car, only with more chrome”

Agreed on the accountant part. I’m not an accountant part, but I looked at total cost per mile of a Tesla, and it was WAY beyond the average gasoline car due to the high purchase price. NEXT!

Steve, does signing a test drive agreement (like most dealers require) shift any of the liability back onto the driver instead of the owner? Wondering if I should do this before test drives a car I'm going to sell on Craigslist.

Agreed. The only time I've even lent my beater car was after teaching the kid how to drive stick.

They're also pretty solid and unlikely to self-destruct, unless you run them out of oil or try to put 10psi in a aluminum block LS1. Knew a guy who did this with a GTO. Immediately shot two rods out of the block lol.

Also, they only plug into the OBD II port and check for codes/readiness. GMs had a way with a PCM programmer to set any CEL code to not report. This would keep the CEL from turning on or the code showing up, but did not effect the emissions readiness. If there's something like that for GM, I'm sure it can be done for

When I lived there, it was a safety inspection only. No emissions.

Agreed. Only one of my two old motorcycles came from the factory with a fuel level gauge.

And could come supercharged from the factory!

I learned from the video that Doug can parallel park a hummer without hitting anything, but not a Land Rover!

And you’re a better person for that.

My exact comment when I saw one at the Columbus auto show this year. I thought they had already killed it!
