So once again a game you have to have played the original of (and liked) to even give a shit about.  Well, I guess there are enough of those people who didn’t even know there were tons of way better JRPGs before FF7 that Squeenix can keep milking?

Yeah, as expected, the live action is always worse than the animated. Because they’re different mediums, and it’s stupid to ‘just’ make a live action version of an anime.

Uh huh. Of course what that means with current Microsoft is that they’re going to cram ChatGPT on it.

Honestly at this point I’d much rather have those 4 games (Hi-Fi, Grounded, Pentiment, and Sea of Thieves) than anything recent from Bethesda, Halo, or Gears of War.

I’ve owned pretty much every console since NES. Certainly PS through PS5 (even with the shitfest that was the PS3), Master System through Dreamcast, and XBox Duke through XB1, and Switch and...

Yeah, arcadey works, but I really think a lowered fragile supercar just smashing through trees and rocks and driving through rivers like it was nothing goes beyond arcadey to cartoony. Even Cruis’n USA was not this ridonkulous, and I can’t think of a single arcade game crazier than that (the Rush series are about that

Forza mainline is not super cartoonish, but Forza Horizon absolutely is. In the last game (FH5) I was driving a Porsche 917 LH (an extremely low to the ground and notoriously unreliable sprint car) cross country through the jungle, up and down hills, up and down rivers, skidding into giant rocks, up and down the steps

It’s important to remember that this piece of junk (‘a $70 AAAA live-service game’) had to be released because Ubisoft had a subsidy deal with the Singapore government.

Yeah, I don’t expect anyone actually expected modern Squeenix to be able to make a game anywhere near as good as Splatoon?  Nintendo may be behind the curve on some technical things, but has always been top of the pack at game design.

Hi-Fi Rush and Pentiment are exciting. Not mentioned here, but Forza Horizon games are really fun cartoonish racing, would be worth having on PS5.

As for the rest....

Halo - a tired, dead franchise with all the creativity and fun long sucked out of it. Anything new is going to be live service hell at this point. Okay,

It can’t. It can be a fun movie, it can make decent money, it can even get good ratings. But Deadpool is off in its own little suburb, like Spiderman.  Nothing that happens with Deadpool tells you anything about the floundering mainline MCU and Disney will learn nothing.

Well, Hi-Fi Rush would be great for the people who don’t have a PC or XBox. That’s a fantastic game. And Great Circle if it doesn’t suck, sure.   Starfield, though? You can keep it.  That’s a game that’s Good Enough For Gamepass (TM).

Well that’s fine. The neat thing is there are only so many f@#$ing stupid players who will play your live service game so you are competing with every single other live service game in an actual zero-sum competition, so hopefully this will cause a complete meltdown of all the corporate a-holes and their private equity

Certainly a lot of people are playing it, but nobody I actually know is playing it. Because some of us knew in advance the people making it make shitty games, some had no idea it was even out there, and the rest were just waiting for reviews which... are not good?

I feel bad for the actual employees, but on the other hand they were working for garbage companies I’d like to see have fewer people working on turning out crap.  Win a little, lose a little.

Palworld: ‘Uh, yeah, we totally filed off the serial numbers. Like uh, our Totally Not a Wooloo has a gold bell. TOTALLY different.  Totally.

And s usual with Bethsoft, it’ll be up to modders to fix the majority of the quest bugs... if they even care enough this time.

Yeah, sorry, we were about to release the patch when we noticed the game design is fundamentally broken. It’s 99.99% boring procedurally generated shit and there’s nothing other than a rewrite from scratch that can possibly fix it.

Well obviously this is going to be nowhere near as good or tightly designed as Splatoon. Though it is obviously trying really really hard to be Splatoon.

Yeah, my absolute least favorite part of the original games was the crappy tank controls plus that they combined it with you having to be absolutely 100% right at the edge of a ledge and perfectly perpendicular to the ledge or you would not make a lot of jumps. Lead to a lot of frustrating ‘Am I just not supposed to
