Yes! I thought that was a really interesting choice, especially as — in the beginning of the speech at least — there were a few lines that were essentially lifted as is from Dougal's story to Claire in the books, or at least very close.

Yeah, it is really common. Smaller films might be released in a subs-only version, but in most cases theaters show both subbed and dubbed screenings of English language films (definitely for the big-budget, major releases).

This is interesting to think about from the perspective of interpreting— especially simultaneous interpreting. In the case where you're interpreting through a headset, very often you are hearing your own voice in addition to the voice of the person you're shadowing/interpreting.

Agreed. I came to SPN relatively recently, but was having such a blast going back and reading the earlier TWoP recaps of it. And of course they made fun of Darling Sammy and lots of the ridiculousness, but it came from an affectionate place.
