Not nearly so bad — and unintentionally, I'm fairly sure — but my mom used to do something sort of similar when I was in high school. For example, my dad's gone to the store and mom tells me to call him to add some things to the list, then she throws in, completely unprompted, "Oh, and why don't you ask your dad to

This is why I hate clubbing and just stick to craft beer bars...

I would hazard... better? Mostly because from what I hear there's nothing else to do up there in the winter *but* have sex. Practice makes perfect? ;-p

yes, I do that on purpose all the time! If I get that awful, need-to-sneeze-but-it-just-won't-come-out feeling, I'll look up at a light and it usually works.

Ugh. I used to work at an English mag in Tokyo and always hated the yearly beauty advertising specials — stuck editing fifty poorly translated-from-Japanese blurbs detailing the endless surgical and esthetic procedures the various clinics offer (which after a few hours can make you feel absolute shit about yourself).

Coco-Ichi delivery! Is it sad if I admit I just did that this past weekend...? >_<;

Totally seconded for #3! I came across the Keltia books in a secondhand shop years ago and have reread them a bunch of times since then. Very old-school space epic meets mythology/fantasy.

also, let's not forget Sherlock Holmes! (the original stories I mean — not a TV series, true, but arguably the cultural equivalent in their day)

actually for me, London was the worst. I'm not the type that gets catcalled ever in general, but for some reason the summer I was in London it was happening *all the time* (something about my look that appeals to British dudes...?). Never experienced anything like that in any other city (NY, Chicago, Tokyo, etc...)

also, our Burger Kings serve alcohol! (go Japan!) ;-p

That's a big thing here in Japan, only with text-based mobile sites rather than phones. You join the "dating site" for a fee and ostensibly get to chat with all the girls that are registered there. Only the vast majority of them are actually (male) employees of the sites who are paid to lead these guys on for as long

on a side note, The Chipmunk Adventure was an *awesome* movie!

That one's fun, but it helps if you're familiar with the Lupin character.

yes! totally heart this movie.

I know, right!

Yikes, that's horrible. Definitely expected better from NPR.

Ooh, a friend just sent me this one! Pretty much fantastic ;-p

hmm, video post fail... trying again!

There is no joy like the joy of Takashi Fujii... featuring random bodybuilders and a poor man's Elijah Wood knockoff.

In this case, I think your sanity's better served by not reading the lyrics. They really don't make a whole lot of sense either.
