real ones already know that Adam Quardero is a deadly serious and vaguely Italian actor

they why don’t they just put them in one theater for one week (two weeks before the recent rule change) and yank em afterward? some of their movies were in thousands of theaters for a month or longer. seems a bit above and beyond for bare minimum awards contention compliance
then why do they put em in thousands of theaters for months at a time? Hustle was still playing in every family multiplex around here up until like two weeks ago. Gray Man is still going on tons of screens. i don’t think they have any delusions about Gray Man being an awards contender
basically i think what they’re saying is that it would have been cool to see the movie on the big screen PLUS Hulu would have made some good money so their policy of never releasing in theaters is pretty silly. even Netflix throws their assorted Gray Mans and Irishmans and Power of the Dogs into theaters when they…
i know he wanted to make a Portal movie (he rose to prominence with a really good Portal short in 2011) which would check the “woman meets overwhelming foe” box perfectly but let’s be real... this world isn’t a good enough place to gift us a decently-budgeted, full-length Portal movie
hmmmmm, so maybe we’re just gonna get serious movies from Joel and goofy movies from Ethan now? was that the reason for the split? their gleeful demolition of any and all walls separating those two tonal hemispheres was kinda the trademark of their whole oeuvre
reminds me of this ancient (by internet standards) fanart of astronaut Pac-Man and his dead crew
i clocked an Exuma LP prominently displayed next to Emerald’s record player and was hoping we’d get a track, which luckily we did
so a home streaming service is gonna put out like 6 hours of content that’s all about what a magical, special place the cinema is and how there’s nothing that can compare to being in a theater?
so does this mean that Neil is an oblivious doofus who hasn’t seen the GOOD film called Out of the Blue (which just had a long-awaited, high-profile restoration and re-release) or does he just not care that his is gonna look bad in comparison
It’s pretty simplistic by today’s standards of course, but it’s good fun. Only about an hour long, probably
Ghostbusters II for the NES is terrible, but New Ghostbusters II (never released in North America because of licensing issues) is really good! One of my favorite NES games, maybe.
it has a tie-in game on the PS2. it’s fuckin’ old
*Vertigo zoom up to a kid doing the Spielberg face*
this guy really is very funny. there’s a folk horror anthology film called The Field Guide to Evil and his segment is basically a horny silent comedy (albeit one where two people are made into human leather footwear at the end)
this was the most anodyne, lifeless, generic piece of content i’ve ever consumed, it was as if the inoffensive beiges and grays that dominated its entire marketing campaign came to life for 2+ hours before my very eyes. literally not one thing that transpired was unexpected or surprising in any way
now do Scorn!
while watching this movie i got the same vibes as a bootleg Simpsons shirt of Bart saluting the flag at ground zero, or Spongebob fanart where all the characters are crying around the grave of the show’s creator
he was definitely super shaky but he also only got half as much time as every other host to acclimate - it was only one week (5 games) which means it was literally just one day hosting, which is crazy
they just don’t write (jokes) like that anymore
