It’s because of Cuban voters in Florida, period, that’s it, that’s the entire analysis.

Ah, Veep. The show where when it premiered it was a hilarious look at an incredibly incompetent and selfish group of people in a Presidential Administration, and by the time it concluded we would have absolutely accepted a Selina Meyer Administration as a massive upgrade.

I get that. I actually think I like your Hall of Fame-style ballot idea better - if someone appears on (X%) of the ballots, they are a nominee, and the category is as big as it turns out to be, varying by year.

I agree that Best Director should expand to match the number of Best Picture nominees, but it occurred to me in thinking about it during my drive this morning that Best Actor actually does have 10 nominees; it’s just been allocated to half men and half women (same for Best Supporting).  Whether that division should

“Lindburgh changed his tune 11 months later. He (like most Americans) went from being isolationist to being extremely pro war. ...And when he learned the facts, he changed his tune.”

Sounds more like the pretty famous thing that happened exactly 11 months later changed his tune more than suddenly understanding the

Plus poor design of the pool deck plus some apparent cost-cutting by the builders plus useless recertification.  Just America/Florida in a nutshell.

And literal time bombs in some cases, as we discovered a couple of years back.

Or “I Will Always Chug You”

I would harvest some of those and also some vespene gas in order to build a siege tank.

Dove Cameron’s delivery of the line “My pal Joshua wouldn’t do that!  He’s too, too divine!” lives in my head to this day.

I think the songs in the second season were largely great, but the story was a bit harder to go with.  Still, I would have watched a third season.  Sucks to know that it was written but will remain maddeningly out of reach!

Seriously.  Someone knew when to hold it.

Agreed there.

That may be, but for the purposes of this movie it appears to be presumed that their missiles work, which isn’t a big stretch in order to get the plot rolling.  A shame it sounds like it isn’t any good.

His episode of Community was also an all-time classic, one of the best in the series.

Yes, how distant indeed the prospect of conflict between the United States and Russia seems now.

Imagine you drop into a Halo battle royale and immediately find the rocket launcher? It’s game over for everyone else.”

You only get four shots unless you find more, so it’s over for a few others at best.  I’d definitely be open to giving a Halo BR a shot.

Luthor’s immediate “...who is this boy’s father?” was one of the few good lines they gave him in that one.  Really made him seem like the super-genius version of Luthor rather than the bumbling real-estate grifter version he was otherwise.

I liked it and Covenant for what they are - gorgeously-shot sci-fi slasher pics where hot people make extremely stupid decisions and die in messy ways as a result - but for that reason I’m also perfectly fine with (and vastly prefer) this show ignoring them entirely.

I like Into Darkness just fine - there are some great setpieces and scenes even if the whole plot doesn’t totally make sense in the end. I think it suffered from not having the novelty that 2009 did, in the sense of “holy hell, this is great casting and is actually a ton of fun”, nor in ending the then-existing
