It was both uncomfortable/triggery to watch but also, in a really twisted way, kind of reassuring. Like: other people see that it can go like this, too. I’m pretty happy about a show that starts out saying women are just big bitches to each other and then it ends like women are a village and they’re the only ones they can really trust. Like holy shit mind blown I love all you ladies out there I’d kill your abusive husband and help raise your kids.

Yes. Don’t know if you read the book but she was raised in an abusive household. I REALLY liked the adaptation but the book spelled some things out a little better.
I burst into tears when they fought to protect Celeste. Uncontrollable sobs. These women. Anyone who has been through this can understand the real desire to have that protection and safety. Boy, I don’t remember ever being on the edge of my seat for an hour of television like that. My assumptions about the identities of the bully and Jane’s rapist/Ziggy’s dad were correct, but that didn’t detract at all from the episode.
That was the best fucking hour of TV I’ve seen in a long time.
