I believe (correct me if I’m wrong) that taxi drivers have a lot more at stake, from what I understand acquiring a taxi license costs an exorbitant amount of money. I’m not suggesting that this automatically makes taxis safer, but there is a much more rigorous and expensive process in place to become a driver.
