I’ve been recovering from surgery for the past couple of weeks and likely will be for the rest of December, so I have more time than usual to read. The last book I finished was Maplecroft, which I saw described in the comments here for The Lizzie Borden Chronicles (I also have plenty of time to catch up on

MIND BLOWN

I have recently heard podcasts about both Bardo and Ong’s Hat. Coincidence?! ...yeah, probably. I listen to a lot of podcasts (I have a job where I can listen to them pretty much all day).

There was, but everyone involved in it turned out to have records of various kinds of sexual assault. They had to go back to cruising the comments at Breitbart.

Yeah it seems to be pretty obviously “bad on purpose”. The others quoted though, holy fuck they just seem bad, period.

If Bertolucci had that little faith in Maria Schneider’s acting abilities, maybe he should have, I don’t know, hired a better actor. Not facilitated and filmed a rape for profit and his own ego. I also wonder if he would have ever thought that about a male actor? Haha kidding, I don’t wonder that. I know he wouldn’t

I live in southwest Louisiana, where the preferred Thanksgiving turkey cooking method involves a deep fryer, gallons of peanut oil, butter-based marinade and a giant syringe. I can assure you, our turkey will be “all that”. This looks good and all, but I’ll stick with the tradition. Maybe I’ll make this for New Year’s

Another vote for Marge Gunderson. She’s such a super lady!

Okay, that absolutely needs to happen. Someone please tweet Derek Waters.

I was all set to read The Beautiful Thing That Awaits Us All, a collection of short horror by Laird Barron, and had already purchased the Kindle version. But then our wireless internet crapped out at home and I couldn’t download it (and we don’t have it at work anymore, since the owner got sick of everyone’s phone

I enjoy licorice. It’s not my favorite or my first choice or anything, but I’ll eat it. But I don’t like the varieties that are overly hard, and salted licorice is vile. Scandinavian cuisine is pretty gross in general, come to think of it.

I’m an ‘80s kid so I recognized a lot of the music and had fun placing it. Most of these movies would regularly pop up on HBO (in the days before they had original content, or if they did it was like one movie every 2 years, they played a lot of older movies to fill space). I love 1970s paranoia thrillers and have

I can’t fall asleep while listening to podcasts. I’ve tried, and even with something as purposely rambling and low-stakes as Sleep With Me, I still get too interested in what I’m listening to. That said, some podcasts are very relaxing, and I would add Mysteries Abound to this list. It’s an elderly Australian man

It takes a special kind of man to effectively smolder while wearing a comfy sweater. (See also: Daniel Craig in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.)

I like to vote in person, and on Election Day. It just gives me a special feeling. But my polling place is in a very rural ward and I’ve never had to wait more than 5 minutes to vote. I certainly don’t question anyone’s choice to mail in or do early voting.

The Breakfast Club. I was in 6th grade when that movie was released, and I laughed so hard at the Futurama episode where an adolescent Fry looks at the album and says he can’t wait until he’s “old enough to feel ways about stuff”.

Her character does cook so much in Chilling Adventures of Sabrina! There’s one scene where she’s making lemon curd and there are dozens and dozens of mason jars of lemon curd stacked all over the kitchen, it was positively comical. I love lemon curd, but this is like, a lifetime supply. For the entire town.

I’m probably the sole reason Lemonheads are #1 in Louisiana. I’ve been addicted to those damn things ever since I had teeth to rot, and buy a box where/whenever I come across them.

I liked Smarties, I guess I was weird. I used to cram an entire roll into my mouth at once. But I don’t disagree that peanut butter cups were the best Halloween candy (tied with Milky Way minis).
