The only thing dumber than VW’s “Voltswagen” April Fool’s joke is the SEC investigation VW for their “Voltswagen” April Fool’s joke. Except maybe for anyone who speculated on VW’s stock price based on their very dumb “Voltswagen” April Fool’s joke.

I assume this will lead to about 8 more articles about how the 3rd-gen Supra is unsafe, as well as an unprofessional and borderline-illegal string of tweets by the CEO of Toyota.
“Whose channel it was is irrelevant.”
“you are the journalist, he is the subject”
That... won’t happen. Cars don’t just go into landfills, they get stripped of valuable parts, of which rare earth mineral based batteries are very much one of.
1st gear: While we are at it, we should subsidize the buggy whip and horseshoe industry. Not fair for those hardworking leatherworkers and blacksmiths to lose their jobs over the automobile!
Is anyone else getting a huge white void at the top of the page or have I just been Kinja’d again?
Tesla performance models get less range than the long range ones, and so do Ford’s. A Model Y Performance gets 303 miles from an 82kWh battery pack, while the Long Range gets 326 miles from the same battery. That’s mostly due to the larger wheels absolutely killing range at highway speeds (the Performance Y actually…
“so I have other plans in mind.”
I guess the Jalopnik Slack channel has an ongoing “How can we move the goalposts for Tesla?” topic.
Yeah, I never got that logic. They only get credits because they sell BEVs (they get none if they don’t), and having the credits allows them to sell the cars at a lower price than otherwise (which they obviously account for in setting pricing). People don’t exclude other tax credits from the profits of automakers, not…
“The company turned a surprisingly large profit this quarter, but it didn’t do it by selling cars.”
Consumer Reports showed that a person in the driver’s seat was required to activate it. The problem was that it remained activated when a person constructed a careful escape that avoided de-activating it.
What is up with “Stan” lately. It’s like a one place used it and suddenly it’s the latched on word to get clicks lately and it’s everywhere.
Geezers will obviously have higher totals. Divide by total years to normalize to annualized capital cost per year would be a more useful comparison.
Perhaps also subtracting trade/sale return of the old car, but this seems more of a bar discussion, so it needn’t be an accurate measure of lifetime depreciation costs.
Why did the fire department decide that 32k gallons of water was appropriate for what is basically a chemical fire? Are they receiving training on putting out battery fires? Will a lithium ion battery fire operate the same as a lithium fire? Cause if it will, water would be *bad.*.
Implying you’re more likely to die in a Tesla than in other cars? I’m pretty sure that’s false.. how about looking up some actual data instead of just spouting old opinions over and over every time somebody wrecks a Tesla?

Seriously - I don’t get how a single crash has had so much attention when the investigation basically has barely started.
Really, a *third* article on this subject when there’s still essentially no facts available to discuss?
