Umm, you know that it’s just a swipe up or down on the left side of the screen, right?  No digging around.  Also there are haptic buttons on the center console as backup.  I haven’t used it yet, but it sounds super simple to me.

This isn’t new.  They’ve been saying this for a long time.  It’s the same idea that software developers discuss about removing the number of ‘clicks’ to do what you want to do.  Good design requires fewer inputs.

Exactly. In their Q1 investor report, they had like 8 days of supply on hand which is basically nothing in the industry. It makes perfect sense that they’d increase prices to keep demand in check while they remain production-constrained.  They’re making good progress to completing their 2 new factories, so hopefully

To be fair, they’re saying that the cost to produce will be lower (not the cost to consumer), since there will very possibly still be more demand than supply in 2025-2027 like there is now. The companies making decent EVs now are selling everything they can make and we’re just at the beginning of people realizing that

Dramatically less than ICE cars, which has been discussed and proven repeatedly. ICE can’t compete with an EV on overall environmental impact, even when the electricity comes 100% from coal, which isn’t the case anywhere in the world and electrical grids are quickly moving towards solar, wind and in fewer areas

Yeah, this was expected. It’s called the ‘Better Than Nothing Beta Program’ for a reason.

All of the Starlink satellites are in a natural de-orbit pattern. They are designed to be de-commissioned after ~5 years, but they are in low enough orbit that their speed will naturally decay over time without any interaction just due to friction with the edge of the atmosphere. The engineers at SpaceX are well aware

Once you realize that Jalopnik is paid by advertisers (many of which are auto companies like Ford, GM, VW, Toyota, etc.) and that Tesla famously doesn’t advertise at all, these pathetic zero-research hit pieces make a lot more sense.

Yeah, it simultaneously screamsLook at my classy paintjob!” as well as “We were too cheap to do it properly!”. Not a good look.

I love the styling, but that 124 mile range on the WLTP test will probably translate to a sub-100 mile EPA range.  Unless this comes in at a shockingly low price, I think it’ll be a tough sell in the US.

I find it helps to think of it this way: How many people are perfectly fine spending $100+/month for their gym/crossfit/yoga subscriptions? If they instead choose to use that ‘exercise money’ on a $2000 bike with ~$500 in clothing/accessories instead, is that so crazy?

Your 1x conversion is just a few minutes with an angle grinder or dremel cut-off wheel away. You don’t need a new crankset. Also, unless you’re planning on hucking this thing off a bunch of sweet jumps, a narrow-wide chainring is likely unnecessary to keep the chain in place. Just make sure that your derailleur spring

Exactly. It’s a hell of a lot easier/cheaper to set up solar/battery stations that are self-sufficient rather than trucking in diesel and guzzoline to remote locations around the country on a continual basis.  Especially with Immortan Joe and his war boys attacking convoys...

Hydrogen fuel cells are in their INFANCY? Fuel cells were invented 183 years ago! GM was making hydrogen fuel cell concept vehicles in the 1960's and many other OEMs have played with the idea since then, and so far none of them have been a compelling alternative to ICE vehicles, given the huge costs to build,

In theory, yes, Hydrogen can be produced with electrolysis using any electric source.  In practice very little of it is, because it’s so inefficient and expensive vs. just putting the electricity into a battery. A hydrogen fuel cell vehicle can never be as efficient as a battery vehicle because it’s just a battery

One of the main reasons that people are excited about Starship is that it’s NOT a multi-billion-dollar rocket. These prototypes are being made for extremely small amounts of money compared to anything similar in the aerospace industry. They haven’t published official prices, but estimates are that each ship is in the

I think you mean Mrs. President.  Her name is Gwynne Shotwell.  Pay attention.

Exactly. Rivian R1T and Cybertruck are rumored to have very large pre-order lists, so it might be years of large-scale production for each before someone can just stroll into a Rivian or Tesla store and buy one off the lot.

Griffin will be devastated.

As noted in the article, this range is using WLTP estimation for range, which is notorious for being wildly optimistic. The EPA range isn’t perfect either, but it’s generally considered to be far more accurate. Let’s see what this thing gets in an EPA test (hint, probably much closer to 400 miles EPA). Also, do they
