This is my problem with the internet’s obsession with clinically picking apart these movies (I’m looking at you, Cinema Sins). These analyses leave no room in the equation for any of the characters’ humanity and assume that everyone reacts to every situation after carefully considering all the possible downstream

Peter Quill is the worst character in the MCU because he reacts naturally and emotionally when he learns that Thanos killed Gamora? Doesn’t that make him a well-written character?

In a snap, Ford has decided to kill all of its and sedans and hatchbacks except for the Focus Active.

I don’t think the problem is that the current car sounds particularly bad, I think it’s that the previous one sounded so incredible.

Hey are you the same JoefromPA that used to frequent InsideLine back in the day?

Well at least SOMEONE at Porsche still knows how to make an exhaust that sounds good.

I think the whole point of her ball gown / purple hair was so that the audience wouldn’t take her seriously as a leader. Our initial reactions are meant to mirror Poe’s: “Who the hell is this? She definitely can’t be trusted. etc, etc...”

So wait is this basically the same Continental GT that’s been on sale for the last decade or so?

I guess I’d buy the More Complexity = More Failures argument if it were the pieces of new tech that were constantly failing. The big ticket stuff like timing chains, IMS bearings, HPFPs, and water pumps aren’t exclusive design features of expensive cars. In fact, it’s more shocking that cars built to more generous

Hit the nail on the head here. I love jokes and one-liners in Star Wars, but almost none of the humor in TLJ landed or felt natural (Rey and Luke’s back-and-forth about the nature of the Force was great though.).

Starting with “The Thing we Need to Have Happen” and working backwards is not good storytelling.

Same. Aviation makes way more sense to me.

So much of the conversation around TLJ devolves into “The Thing I Wanted to Have Happen Didn’t Happen” or “The Answer to The Thing Wasn’t the Answer I Wanted.” that the true issues with the movie get ignored.

I haven’t seen a picture of a C6 in a while and holy shit that front overhang.

I’d argue that The Last Jedi paid more lip service to this concept than anything. By the end of the movie, we still have a small group of freedom fighters left with the task of defeating an all-powerful authoritarian organization.

It’s amazing how far I had to scroll down before I found someone actually talking about how this film functioned as a film. The movie has a bunch of pacing, structure, and tonal issues that presented a much bigger roadblock to my enjoyment than whether or not ForceTime should be permissible within the established

Thanks. Now I have to go troll Craigslist for old Saabs for the next half hour.

You’re dead on. The flat shot, lighting, and set design make the whole thing look like a school play.

Sorry, J.J. Abrams. When it comes to the new era of Star Wars movies, there’s Rian Johnson, and then there’s everybody else...It’s arguably the biggest decision Disney/Lucasfilm has made about the franchise since they first announced the sequel trilogy back in 2012.
