The slot for the ps5 isn’t proprietary. It’s a M.2 slot, which has been standard on PCs and Macs for the past 5 years. Sony is using the the newest version (PCIe Gen 4) to reach the required speeds.

Sony has already announced it won’t use proprietary drives. The minimum requirements are a PCIe Gen 4 M.2 SSD at a minimum speed of 5.5Mbps read/write that fits in the slot that won’t overheat.
