Because FF is pushing aggressively towards autonomy. When a car is practically or fully autonomous, driving experience becomes a secondary consideration to how good it looks and how nice it is to ride in.

I am not a fan of the higher roofline on the 2+2. FHC or bust, for me.
It’s a super-rare (only 200-300 built in 25 years) Italian biz jet, and very uncommon outside of Southern Europe. Cool looking, and very quiet inside, but impractical for a variety of reasons.
Where oh where did you find not one but two Piaggio P.180 Avantis to photograph?
I actually really like the way that the brightwork along the upper window-line dips down between the C/D pillars (and then along the latter). It makes the car look lower and sleeker while allowing a higher roof over the cargo area — meaning more storage space and better rearward visibility. It also very effectively…
This was the first thing I thought of. If they’re re-using their existing tub (which seems likely) the engine from the P14 almost certainly drops right in to a 12C, with the exception of the exhausts.
I’m most interested in this slide of their presentation. It seems to be that they’re claiming that the hydrogen required to transport a tanker to distant fueling stations is (significantly) less than the amount the trailer can hold. If they’re right, they’ve just solved the H2 distribution problem right there — no…
They guy who sold me my GTI had the same car, in the same spec, but minus the ‘Bro.’ I took a ride, and it was fantastic.
Thank you for adding video — I only had a still camera that day.
If anybody has an opportunity to head to the next Rennsport Reunion (whenever that happens), do it. Hearing these things blast around Laguna Seca is incredible.
This is exactly it. The European LED Golf taillights don’t comply with FMVSS requirements for reflectivity from the side (the reflective marker is not large enough). Rather than re-engineer the light, they use the bulb ones which are also cheaper.
It’s also worth pointing out the most recent V-16, which Rolls Royce developed for the Phantom but did not use. One was dropped into a Phantom Coupé for Johnny English: Reborn, because Rowan Atkinson is a wonderful, insane enthusiast.
It’s perfect for me, since the Football Giants are on a bye this week. I’d never watch NASCAR live, anyway.
I know it’s ugly, and we can talk about that (there’s just too much detail in everything...) but does it look like a ‘shop to anyone else? If you look at the nostrils on either side of the badge, they’ve got different shadows, and the left inner surface curves more than the right one does.
They owned Lamborghini at the time, Yeah.
The LEDs in the fenders are also a nice nod to the blackout lamps that were fender-mounted on wartime jeeps
For all the flame wars that this has sparked, it seems like this could be done with some of the existing sensors we use for car alarms — an alert that triggered when the “intrusion detection” sensor goes off would do just fine.
Slight correction — the airstairs Obama had to use are pretty far forward, actually. There’s a special wide set of stairs inside the forward cargo door of the VC-25. The reporters, however, had the indignity of using the stairs that are actually built in to the ass-end of the plane.
I think what he was implying (and it would be my advice as well, having driven previous generations) is that if you think the driving experience matters go with the Porsche. The SL is more of a cruiser than a sports car.
I’m almost 99% certain that the belt buckle beep is an FMVSS requirement.
