It’s only realistic for the two road courses they run and they determined making the cars waterproof and implementing all those systems was too much work for two race dates per year. They have tried it a few times in the last few decades, it’s always been a mess. It’s sort of an “if it ain’t broke don’t fix it” sort…
Last year, I watched two airline gorillas try to put an electric wheelchair in the belly of the jet next to ours. Yep, they dropped it a good 8 ft to the tarmac and it broke into no less than 6 pieces. They just picked up the pieces and threw them in and shut the door. WTF.

That is awesome that it was a great show, when I saw G&R in the 90's it was the worst concert I have ever been to. Sound Garden opened and they were 100 times better than G&R.

It wasn’t a proper PIT attempt anyway. The cop car wasn’t far enough forward. This was a cheap shot on a lap 186 restart at Talladega.
I live close to where this incident happened, and while there is a fair amount of traffic in the area, options were only going to get worse for the police if they let the driver continue further. The maneuver happened here:
