I don’t think it’s that as much as it is that the car was discontinued a longgggg time ago. As a result, the majority of examples available on the secondary market are already abused to rat shit, and therefore have a price point that is appealing to high-schoolers.

There’s two problems with batteries on track though, not just heat, but range as well. Batteries don’t like extreme temperatures, either end of the spectrum.

Oh, also, the transmission in a 996 Turbo is flat out garbage. Legit one of the worst manual transmissions I’ve ever used. Can’t believe that was sold on a Porsche at one time.

Really nothing the 996 is better at. Feel is no worse in the 997 yet reliability (looking at you IMS) and performance are discernibly better.
