It is a pretty substantial plot thread that has gone completely ignored and is a great example of how lazy the writing on Shameless has gotten over the last few seasons, which is why it keeps getting mentioned I think. I didn’t know she was 22 at the time either. For some reason I always thought she was in her mid-30s or early 40s, which in my young mind at the time seemed old enough to cut off somebody’s wiener.

22! I forgot (never realized?) how young she was. I’m also not sure if I ever knew she was an immigrant, and how that was weaponized against her - so much vulnerability. My heart aches for her.

I was still in elementary school when this happened, so the only memories I have of it from the time are those of the jokes and punchlines, of a woman so crazy to have done something like this. And that’s all I really understood of it well into my adulthood.

Definitely in the camp of ‘if everyone is consenting and having fun it doesn’t really matter *what* it is’. The whole ‘pee or not pee’ debate always seemed too focused on controlling women’s sexuality by labeling things gross or acceptable. If you like it, do it, and that’s all that matters. 

This reads like the push-pull of something that works and feels good for some women being turned into a requirement for other women, to the detriment of their health.
