@Frank Rustyak: these products are modular, the company is global, and they tend to retain designs for many years. this makes these hacks much more viable for sharing on the internet.

I think this article gets it wrong. Command-line seems better suited for configuring background services that don't require a gui, but are always running. If I'm looking at an app, I don't care if uses a lot of cpu/memory.

@Duckamuk: you can set up a free xml tv guide. i forget the exact setup, but with a little research you can do it. you'll need to be connected through ethernet.
