Surprised no one has yet mentioned how Jamie gave Claire a pearl necklace. Because we are all mature adults.

Agreed. Bolin doesn't lavabend because he's got firebender in his blood. He's an earthbender. It cheapens what the Avatar means if other people can suddenly cross-bend. The easiest explanation for lavabending is that they're changing the physical state of their element. If a waterbender can cool water to make ice, why

I think you might be onto something here . . .

But it has nothing to do with the physical state of the element, or else earthbenders could bend ice because its a solid. Unlike mud, which is a mixture of water and dirt, mercury is a pure element, and, in fact, shouldn't even be accessible to metalbenders unless there are impurities in it.

What didn't they do? Show real human situations? I mean, to the extent that bending vs non-bending is a human situation, they did.

I think its a tricky spot to be in. Because there's no easy, peaceable solution to the inequality of benders vs non-benders, it's incredibly difficult to generate a compelling narrative solution. Look at how inequality is dealt with in our world - with thousands of hours of debate leading up to miniscule legislative

Absolutely, the chained up Korra tag-teaming with her dad was great, and they kept the fight fast-paced and intense enough that she couldn't have tried to bash her way out with earth. The way she would attack, then move out of the way and Tonraq would go on offense reminded me of how Sokka and Zuko worked together

tl;dr when your post starts off very arbitrary and pedantic and seems to ramp up the raging fanboyism for the original series from there.

Korra is 17 at the beginning of her series (presumably 18 now), and Aang was 12, presumably 13 by the time he fought Ozai.

Just really seemed like a shame he didn't take the opportunity to do all of that when they were breaking out P'Li and had Tonraq, Eska, Desna, and Zuko disabled.

Right, but what crime did they really commit 13 years ago? Attempted kidnapping? Hard to justify the death penalty for that.

You know what else reminds me of Buffy?

He's no Guru Laghima

I'd agree with this. It's on par to a waterbender creating a tsunami (don't think Katara ever got to THAT level, though she did make some big waves), or a single airbender creating a hurricane.

I understood this reference!

While that would be fascinating for an avatar who initially depended upon and defined herself by her physical ability so wholly (and I really wish this were true), all the evidence in the finale points to Korra NOT being paralyzed. She lands on her feet when she swings Zaheer down, and Tenzin and others repeatedly

Even if there was a schism, if she's so divorced from the Red Lotus philosophy that she would directly kill P'Li and save Korra's life when she would have otherwise died . . . can you even say she's part of the same group as Zaheer? There's more than a tinge of anarchy in objectivism, the philosophy Zaofu seems to be

Wait, their leader was named?

They probably cut out the muffled explosion because even that's a bit too violent for Y7. As far as smoke rising behind Zaheer, watch the scene again.

Also all three of her children AND Aang's reincarnation almost died. So, yeah, I think this is kind of a big deal.
