Unrelated- I’m still depressed from the second episode of Black Mirror where the people ride stationary bikes all day while watching screens, only to save up points to go on a singing competition show.

I’m sure it’s more of the same stuff from the divorce filing, just come to life, which has to be terrifying.

I think the really traumatizing thing about it was the public’s reaction. Everything is just a show now. Politics is basically a pig fucking show.

A friend of a friend on FB (actual local friends) posted that she knows Bannon’s ex wife, and simply that he’s even worse than you think.

That episode is going to be burned onto my retinas until I die. Also, you are not wrong.

In fairness, she looked totally different before that pimping out. She sure as hell didn’t look anything like that photo above. I saw an old episode recently and it doesn’t even look like the same person. However, full disclosure, I’m not a fan of that look, and I think Kim K looks like she’s hitting the filler way…

This is true but I still have a couple people who keep posting that they don’t want to see anything with politics. They’re always the same people who posted something like “get over it” right after the election, plus some “we’re all Americans” stuff that loosely translates to don’t criticize Trump.  

I’m an in house employment lawyer, and I help the HR people with shit like that, and let me tell you, we see that all the fucking time.

These jobs are going to be super awesome without unions and labor regulations, too. Assembly work for $8/hr. It will be fun to watch the republicans’ heads explode when all the people applying are brown legal immigrants, and the white folks are still hustling for pain pills and scarfing KFC.

Ex-fucking-actly. Where do they think all our shit comes from? Do they think we’re going all Norman Rockwell or Little House on the Prairie? Like we’re going to make our own shit, or buy like one shirt and pass it down through the generations?

I’ve been wondering about this. Even when we “bring back” all these manufacturing jobs, does anyone know how to do them? Is anyone willing? I just got done with Hillbilly Elegy and all signs in there point to no.

It probably was well-intentioned. So are all the FB posts I’ve seen from the PTA mom crowd about how everyone is being so negative, why can’t they just be positive? They don’t know they’re being weirdly elitist and dismissive of their friends’ genuine concerns.

This is where I am on it. Why would anyone write that? Because she’s Black? I’m reading it as “why does everyone keep bringing up race and gender all the time? So divisive!” I live among wealthy white suburbanites and this is 100% what they believe.

I cannot wrap my head around the aversion to birth control, free or otherwise. These southern states have the worst teen pregnancy rates- all the other states have turned it around. No wonder Teen Mom and 16 and Pregnant is so popular in those states (according to the NYT). They think it’s an instructional video…

I keep hearing that these people were very worried in the election about “religious freedom.” I can’t figure out what that means, except it might be something about transgender bathrooms or making cakes for gays. Paying for birth control? None of which impacts their limitless freedom to be stupid and go to a church…

Exactly. My boss is a little like this about everything, even when religion isn’t involved. Very “I just choose to believe everything will be awesome and I refuse to worry about anything bad happening” kind of stuff. On the one hand, how nice.
