I think you’re doing it right. Traveling in your 20s doesn’t have to cost much. But you can travel again before your kids move out. We took ours (10 and 12) to Thailand this year. I did that— walking along, all of a sudden my ankle buckled outward, sprained, and then also an avulsion fracture on one side. I didn’t stay off it but instead got on an international flight a few hours later. Didn’t work out so well— I shoulda stayed home and watched Veep.
