If you don’t speak Japanese I would memorize the phrase for it because you never know if a restaurant will have staff that have decent English skills. But they shouldn’t have much trouble accommodating you once they know.

Maybe they’re COMmunity badges rather than COMmunication badges?

hi, you’ve reached the pony hotline, $4.95 a minute.  here are some words that rhyme with pony - jabroni, cannelloni, abalone, pepperoni...

Wait... I don’t see Fallout 76 anywhere. Did it come out too late to be considered? lol. On a serious note I think Christopher Judge should have won best performance. Maybe I’m not far enough in RDR2 to see how great Arthur’s voice is but Kratos was absolutely perfect. GOW’s performances were on par with other amazing

What? That game came out in 2005!

Knowing it was essentially workshopped via life experience makes it even better.

lol—before i moved to new york i was gathering up gear in california. i was gonna try being a full-time video game streamer while working on my game TRUCK HECK. i had a couple stream shows going on with my buddies, and i used to joke about my friend’s questionably irrational game behaviors by saying “that man WILL not

I’m the worst kind of enigma though. At first glance there appears to be some depth there, but then I start talking and you realize I’m just a mild curiosity that already wore out its welcome.

It can be tough, especially with the language barrier. I was just there, and my wife is allergic to pork of all things. Most restaurants specialize in a specific meal or meals, so do your research beforehand. Also, bring a note or a screengrab on your phone that says you have a shellfish allergy in Japanese to show

If it’s just shellfish, you might be okay. There is dashi, bonito flakes, and fish sauce in almost EVERYTHING — so if you’re trying to avoid any and all seafood it will be tricky.

If you make it a point to declare your allergy, most restaurants will be able to accommodate you. Japan has a tradition of listing the allergens present in any kind of packed food you find at stores, and restaurants are usually very aware of that as well.

I would surely thing they can compensate for that given the allergen isn’t likely unique to foreigners. :)

You might want to get a flashcard or two that states your allergy clearly in Japanese. Some restaurants/food places may very well include shellfish derived products in their food, especially things with various seafood based stocks. Better safe than sorry.

While we’re talking about sports event mascots, allow me to brag a little and share with you the mascots for 2018 Asian Games. Which will be held in Indonesia this summer.

Funny, this is essentially how I feel about the Vegeta asskissery in general. Now THERE is a character that I personally can’t stand and wish there was much less of in the series.

It’s almost as if none of it matters, and there’s not really a such thing as Mario “canon.”

Yuna’s sending scene is the high point for Squeenix FMV’s. It’s utterly beautiful, well-shot, gives us exposition, character development and emotion all in, I believe, under two minutes.

I’d figure it should resonate with western audiences considering they’d be able to relate, no? And fuck stereotypes. Laziness is universal AF.

Totally agree and excellent comment!

The other iconic anime that doesn’t seem to have much of an international following (at least in the West) is Chibimaruko-chan. The first 5-6 seasons of the anime are seriously some of the best slice of life/comedy anime ever written.
