I don't think people really hate the game itself (surely some dislike the changes from MW2, but "hate" is too strong for that), but the situation you described: DLC, one game per year, etc. I bought MW1, then skipped WaW, MW2 (no dedicated servers, no sale) and now I bought Black Ops. I won't be buying the map packs…

@Marasai: if you're connected with another friend via local wireless, you won't even have to do that. Instead you can push a button to accept or send friend requests and the 3DS will take down the number automatically and remember it.

DS sales in Japan are basically 50/50 between the DSiXL and the DSi (dunno about the US), it's still a fairly large percentage but I suppose they think the DSi XL (and remaining DSi) sales will be healthy enough until the 3DS is out.
